Many Nicosia road closures this Sunday for Bank of Cyprus Marathon

Major roads across Nicosia will be closed for up to seven hours this Sunday during the Bank of Cyprus Nicosia Marathon, with some routes shut from early morning until early afternoon.

Nicosia Municipality announced temporary traffic arrangements and road closures across the capital on 18 January to allow the safe conduct of the races and smooth movement of participants, in cooperation with police and relevant authorities.

The public is urged to plan journeys in advance and show understanding during the disruption.

Western section closures

Roads including Rigainis, Paphos, Egypt, Kinira, Nechrou, Museum and Lord Byron streets will close from 05:45 to 13:00.

Georgiou Griva Digeni, Agiou Prokopiou and Archangelou Michael avenues will close from 05:45 to 10:30.

Left lanes will be closed on Egypt Street, parts of Lord Byron Street, sections of Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue, and Agiou Prokopiou and Archangelou Michael avenues up to the traffic lights near Apollonio Hospital.

Right lanes will close on Lord Byron Street from Michail Karaoli traffic lights to lights near Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue, and on Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue from 28th October traffic lights to before the Kolokasidi roundabout.

Eastern section closures

From 05:45 to 12:45, left lanes will close on Omirou Street, Stasinou Avenue, and Archbishop Makarios II Avenue near Olympiakos Nicosia stadium.

Full closures will affect Konstantinou Palaiologou, Nikiforou Foka and Athens streets, the left lane of Vasileos Georgiou II Street, Spirou Christodoulou, Christaki Christofidi and Egeos streets, Archbishop Makarios III Street, and Synergasias Street.

Agios Ilarionas Street will close up to the Bata roundabout, with the left lane shut to Kolokotroni Street traffic lights. Markou Botsari Street will also close.
