Police launched a series of dynamic, targeted operations across urban centres last night to prevent serious crime and safeguard public order. Officers maintained a heavy presence at key locations, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals.
Forces divided their operations across major districts as follows:
Limassol: Officers arrested three people for theft and one individual for residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.
Paphos: Authorities detained one suspect for arson and another for causing injury.
Larnaca: District police and the Road Accident Prevention Unit arrested two people for drink-driving.
Establishment Checks and Traffic Enforcement
Beyond the arrests, police conducted 42 inspections of business premises to suppress delinquency. These checks led to nine reports concerning operating licences and indoor smoking violations.
Road safety operations involved over 600 vehicle stops, yielding:
179 traffic citations for various offences.
36 drivers caught operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
10 vehicles seized for further forensic and mechanical examination.
Sustained Prevention Plan
These operations form part of an extensive, ongoing preventive strategy. Police officials confirmed that the increased patrols and targeted checks will continue across all provinces to deter crime and bolster public safety.
