A seven-year-old girl is being treated in intensive care after her father lost control of his car in Limassol on New Year’s Day, though doctors say she is out of danger.
The crash happened around 10 am on Ellados Street when the 41-year-old driver, heading south in a saloon car, claims he felt dizzy and lost control. The car veered left, hit a parked vehicle and then slammed into a wall.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was kept in the hospital as a precaution before being released today. His two children were also in the car.
The 13-year-old boy in the front passenger seat suffered minor injuries. The boy’s seven-year-old sister in the back seat was taken to the hospital, where doctors found she had a fractured left wrist and a ruptured mesentery with internal bleeding.
The girl was transferred to Makarios Hospital and is being treated in the intensive care unit. Her condition is described as stable and out of danger.
Limassol Traffic Police are investigating whether the children were wearing seatbelts or if a special child seat was used.
