The state is revising minimum wage limits following a Cabinet decision on 23 December, with a new decree published in the Official Gazette on 31 December.
The decree takes effect from 1 January 2026 and sets revised minimum wages for employees in the Republic working full-time.
The national minimum wage upon recruitment increases from €900 to €979 gross for employees who have not completed six months’ continuous employment with the same employer.
After completing six months’ continuous employment, the minimum monthly wage increases from €1,000 to €1,088 gross.
These amounts correspond to full-time employment. For part-time work, proportional adjustment is provided based on working hours relative to the full schedule.
The decree maintains full-time working hours as applied at the time of issue, according to legislation, decree, collective agreement, custom or practice in each economic activity.
The 2023 Amending Decree is repealed, whilst technical references to related decrees for specific employment sectors are updated.
