The Christmas Village in Pano Platres sustained damage after a tornado struck the area on Monday evening, causing damage to site facilities.
The community released photographs showing the damage, which mainly affected the awnings of the Christmas Village stalls. According to an announcement, the strong winds damaged some facilities but had no serious impact on the overall operation of the site.
The community leader said strong winds prevailed in the area, affecting exclusively the Christmas Village site, with no problems or damage recorded in the rest of the community.
Despite the damage, the community said the stalls will continue to operate normally and the Christmas Village will remain open to the public. Visitors can enjoy the festive programme and atmosphere from 2 to 4 January.
The competent services, in cooperation with the organisers, are proceeding with the necessary restoration work, whilst calling on the public to support the effort with their presence despite the problems caused by the severe weather.
