A kitchen fire broke out in a two-storey house in Aglantzia on Saturday afternoon (27/12), according to the Fire Service. While the blaze extinguished itself before fire crews arrived, the incident caused significant damage to electronic equipment and left the entire property scarred by smoke.
Faulty charger to blame
Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis confirmed that the homeowner was away when the fire started. A joint investigation conducted at the scene with the Electromechanical Services indicates the fire was sparked by a faulty power bank used for charging computers.
While the flames remained contained to the kitchen area, the resulting smoke spread throughout the house, causing extensive damage to the interior.
