Thousands of cattle vaccinated as foot-and-mouth fears grip occupied north

Veterinary teams have jabbed 45,214 cattle across 403 units in the occupied areas to halt the spread of foot-and-mouth disease. The mass vaccination drive took place between 19 and 27 December, according to a statement from local “veterinary services.”

Turkish Cypriot media reports that officials are prioritising high-risk zones for the rollout. Alongside the vaccinations, teams are conducting rigorous disease monitoring through blood sampling and lab analysis to track the virus.
