Cyprus’s new Health Minister, Neofytos Charalambides, made an unannounced visit to Paphos General Hospital today, his first since taking office. The visit was intended to observe the hospital’s operations under real conditions.
Mr Charalambides toured various departments and was briefed by the management and staff on the current status and prevailing conditions.
He also received updates on the expansion works for the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E), as well as requests from social agencies regarding improvements in other sections of the hospital.
The Minister, who was accompanied by DIKO Paphos MP Chrysanthos Savvides, was additionally informed about the immediate need for doctors of specific specialisations and the delay in reopening the hospital’s canteen.
Furthermore, hospital officials raised the necessity of immediately announcing the vacancy for the Executive Director position to realise the decided autonomy of Paphos Hospital from Limassol Hospital.
