Limassol police arrested a 38-year-old man on Thursday morning after discovering he was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant. Romanian authorities issued the warrant for the suspect to serve a 10-year prison sentence for human trafficking offences committed in Romania.
The arrest took place following a court warrant issued locally to facilitate the European request. The 38-year-old is currently in custody and is expected to appear before the Limassol District Court tomorrow to begin formal extradition proceedings.
