Yellow weather warning for storms issued on Wednesday

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Cyprus, in effect from 5am to 4pm on 10 December.

A combination of rain and isolated thunderstorms is expected to affect the area, mainly the south and east, according to the announcement. Northern and mountainous areas may also be affected.

Hail is possible during thunderstorms, whilst winds will be variable and strengthening.

Rainfall intensity is estimated between 35 and 55 millimetres per hour, with total rainfall expected around 50 millimetres over a six-hour period.
