Pathologists found no signs of physical trauma on a 49-year-old Norwegian woman discovered dead in her Paralimni flat on Thursday, though police continue investigating the unexplained death.
The lengthy post-mortem examination revealed no visible injuries or X-ray evidence that would explain her death, according to police. However, authorities have not ruled out any scenario pending toxicology and other laboratory test results.
The woman had been suffering from serious health problems, police said.
Pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthódoxos Orthodóxou conducted the autopsy at Nicosia General Hospital mortuary and collected tissue samples for specialised testing.
Police discovered the woman’s body at 1.55pm on Thursday after a concerned relative who hadn’t heard from her alerted authorities. Officers entered the first-floor apartment through a window.
Officers collected evidence from the scene on Thursday which has been sent for scientific analysis. Police are taking statements from the woman’s family members as part of the investigation.
