Aegean to carry out direct Brussels-Larnaca flights ahead of Cyprus EU presidency

The Transport Ministry announced the signing of an agreement between the Department of Civil Aviation and Aegean Airlines for a direct Larnaca-Brussels connection.

The signing took place on 28 November 2025 in the presence of Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades, Ministry Director General Dr Marina Ioannou-Chasapi and Director of the Secretariat of the Cyprus EU Council Presidency 2026, Demetris Mavromatis.

The agreement was signed by Panagiota Demetriou, Director of the Department of Civil Aviation, and Dona Sparsi, Aegean station director at Larnaca airport.

The contract takes effect on 1 December 2025 and runs until 30 November 2026, setting out a specific flight schedule:

  • Three weekly return flights for December 2025
  • Five weekly flights for January-June 2026
  • Three weekly flights for July 2026
  • Two weekly flights for August-November 2026

A maximum fully flexible economy fare of €400 per route is set, including all additional charges such as service fees, fuel, one 20-23kg bag and a meal.

Minister Vafeades said the agreement “ensures reliable and stable connectivity between Cyprus and Brussels ahead of Cyprus’ EU presidency”, adding that it strengthens access to European decision-making centres and meets substantial needs of citizens and professionals.

He stressed the ministry is working to enhance the country’s international air connectivity for the benefit of the economy and daily life.
