Residents wake up to find homes barricaded by roadworks on Tseriou Avenue (video)

Residents on Tseriou Avenue found themselves completely cut off from their homes on Friday morning after roadworks blocked all access.

According to images obtained by Philenews, residents are literally blocked from the road. The works on Tseriou Avenue are not expected to be completed before November 2026.

One resident noted “if anything happens, we have no way out”. The only entrance and exit from the house is via an iron platform which was also blocked this morning with large amounts of soil, whilst earthworks are being carried out nearby.

Philenews spoke to an affected resident who described the situation. She said yesterday an urgent hospital transfer was necessary, noting that if the incident had occurred today, the journey would have been practically impossible.

The resident asked workers for an explanation for dumping large quantities of soil in front of her home, receiving the response “we don’t have anywhere else to dump it, madam”.
