Police launched an investigation after four luxury cars were destroyed in an arson attack in Mouttagiaka, Limassol, late on Wednesday night.
The vehicles, worth hundreds of thousands of euros, were destroyed in what investigators believe was a targeted criminal act.
Police received a report at 11:46 pm about a fire involving four vehicles parked in a private, open-air car park in Muttayiaka. The cars belong to a 40-year-old man (two vehicles), a 38-year-old and a 21-year-old. The Fire Service extinguished the blaze.
According to philenews, the vehicles are luxury cars worth hundreds of thousands of euros. The cars are connected to a well-known local businessman who was a close associate of Stavros Demosthenous, who was murdered last month.
Limassol CID investigators have obtained witness testimony and CCTV footage showing the perpetrator walking to the scene on foot and dousing the vehicles with flammable liquid.
Limassol CID investigators are expected to take a statement from the owner. The city is once again on alert, with investigations in full swing. Police are also examining whether the perpetrators were attempting to send a message to the foreign businessman and vehicle owner.
