Paphos village blaze under control, Fire Service says

The Fire Service has brought a forest fire in the Paoura area of Kelokedara, Paphos district, under control, it said on Friday afternoon.

The blaze burned approximately two hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation.

The fire was reported at 10:53am and declared under control at 12:33pm following a coordinated response involving multiple agencies and aircraft support.

Five aircraft supported ground crews

Five fire engines from Paphos district fire stations led the firefighting effort, supported by three fire vehicles and a foot patrol unit from the Forestry Department and a portable firefighting unit from the Game and Fauna Service.

Five aircraft conducted water drops to support ground firefighting forces during the operation in the difficult terrain.

Ground firefighting forces remain at the scene to complete extinguishment and address any potential flare-ups.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities.
