First day of autumn brings 38°C heat despite seasonal shift

Cyprus will experience predominantly clear weather on Monday with temperatures reaching 38°C in inland areas, as seasonal low pressure affects the region.

Winds will blow from southwest to northwest at weak to moderate strength, measuring 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, with locally strong winds of 5 Beaufort expected in southwestern areas during the afternoon. Sea conditions will remain moderate.

Temperature peaks at 38°C in inland areas today

Temperatures will climb to 38°C in interior regions, whilst coastal areas will see more moderate conditions. Western and southwestern coastal areas will reach approximately 32°C, with remaining coastal regions experiencing around 34°C.

Higher mountainous areas will see temperatures of 31°C.

Weekly outlook shows gradual cooling from Tuesday

Weather conditions will remain mainly clear from Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures will show a gradual small decline until Wednesday, with no significant changes expected on Thursday.

The temperature range will move closer to average climatological values for the season.
