Intelligence officer transferred after allegedly harassing citizen

A police officer from the Cyprus Intelligence Service has been transferred to the Aliens and Immigration Service following a harassment complaint filed with parliament’s Human Rights Committee.

The officer left the Cyprus Intelligence Service after her identity was publicly revealed, according to information obtained by Philenews.

Lawyer Alekos Argyrou filed the complaint on behalf of Nikoletta Andreou-Tsikkini with the House Human Rights Committee chairwoman Irene Charalambidou last Monday, alleging threats from the police officer.

The complaint letter, made public by the lawyer, states that Andreou-Tsikkini received a threatening message on 19 August 2025 from the police officer, who “made a public comment on my client’s social media post”.

The complaint identified the officer as serving with the Cyprus Intelligence Service.

The allegations gained widespread attention on social media on 20 August. Andreou-Tsikkini, who regularly criticises officials through her social media accounts, published the officer’s name and exact post in a post on 20 August, also sharing a photograph of the officer with her husband.

Andreou-Tsikkini claimed the officer had written the following under her social media post: “Shut up before I have to expose your dirty laundry in public”.
