A crucial element that instils greater optimism in Paphos for this year’s tourist season is the significant increase in traffic anticipated from Germany to the province this summer.
Data until mid-April from German travel agencies indicate that the estimates and data analyzed for Paphos during the recent international tourism exhibition ITB Berlin are now fully confirmed: The tourist flow from the large German market to Paphos for the remainder of 2024 will constitute an unprecedented surge, largely offsetting the ongoing losses from Russia and Israel due to conflicts.
Based on the latest bookings and expressions of interest from tour operators in the country, as well as individually from airlines, Germany will play a much larger role in tourist traffic to Paphos this upcoming summer compared to the previous five years at least, a fact that reinforces the province’s strong position on the tourism map.
Tourism stakeholders in the province additionally believe that there is ample room for improving air connectivity to Paphos and increasing visitor arrivals, as well as a need for further promotion of Cyprus in this market.
In this context, Germany is viewed as a high-priority market for Paphos, which can decisively contribute to extending the tourist season and attracting visitors on a year-round basis. This policy was communicated to German travel organizers at the ITB Berlin tourism exhibition, attended by a delegation from ETAP and PASYXE Paphos.
This observation, combined with the ongoing, based on all indications, very high visitation from the UK this year, is causing excitement in tourist Paphos for a 2024 that is poised to be a record-breaking year in visitor arrivals.
