President’s support measures for Greek Cypriot refugees

The President of the Republic announced a series of measures addressing Greek Cypriot refugees.

The measures are outlined below:

A. Increase in housing loan subsidies from €130,000 to €200,000 and the subsidy period from 20 to 30 years with the abolition of income criteria.

B. Increase in subsidies from €50,000 to €100,000 for repairs to homes without income criteria.

C. Increase in subsidies for students including maintenance expenses, beyond tuition fees, while the scholarship amount will not be deducted as was the case until today, from the student loan amount.

D. New loan schemes for home renovation, purchase of household appliances, and energy upgrades to existing homes, without income criteria.

E. Expansion of beneficiaries of the Loan Scheme for the Professional Activity of Young Entrepreneurs.

F. For property in the occupied areas, which was used for a loan, which was subsequently repaid, it can now be used again in a relevant application to the Central Body for Equal Distribution of Weights.

G. Loan or interest subsidy schemes provided by the Body will no longer be taken into account.

H. In applications for Housing Loans, it will not be taken into account whether the applicants have another owned property, unless they have been approved in the past by the Body for the specific property.
