Unions criticise CERA over energy price dispute

“With concern, we observe the turmoil deliberately created by the President of CERA (Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority) towards the newly established Administrative Board of the Electricity Authority (before they even convened), exploiting the transitional period of the Council change regarding the electricity price, which aimed to cover up his own failure in the role and mission of CERA towards the country,” state the unions of EAC in their announcement.

“We call on the Administrative Board of the Authority, to act with sobriety and prudence, and after being properly informed by the Regulated and closely monitored Activities of the Organization, to make the necessary decisions for EAC based on sustainable and rational development, for the benefit of society and the country,” they add.

“As for the serious issues that concern us and affect both the workers and the energy sector, we have consciously allowed time for the new Administrative Board to be informed before we proceed with the actions authorized by our members,” they conclude.
