Public servants set to earn up to €45 per hour in 2024

In accordance with data released by the Treasury of the Republic, detailed in a circular from the Department of Public Administration and Personnel of the Ministry of Finance, public servants in Cyprus are classified into 16 salary scales, some of which have subcategories.

Their annual total earnings range from €16,772 (for Scale A1 with a reduced entry scale) to €96,429 for Scale A16(i), equating to a monthly salary of €8,036.

As per the information provided by the General Accounting Office, the total annual earnings for newly appointed public servants in Scale A1, effective from January 1, 2024, span from €16,772 to €19,102, with an average hourly wage of €9.17.

The breakdown for other scales is as follows:

  • Scale A2: Total annual earnings range from €16,830 to €20,615, with the average hourly wage at €9.57.
  • Scale A3: Total annual earnings range from €17,027 to €23,615, with the average hourly wage at €10.39.
  • Scale A4: Total annual earnings range from €17,148 to €26,324, with the average hourly wage at €11.11.
  • Scale A5: Total annual earnings range from €18,005 to €32,071, with the average hourly wage at €12.25.
  • Scale A6: Total annual earnings range from €22,288 to €33,806, with the average hourly wage at €14.34.
  • Scale A7: Total annual earnings range from €25,178 to €37,762, with the average hourly wage at €16.09.
  • Scale A8: Total annual earnings range from €27,237 to €41,874, with the average hourly wage at €17.67.
  • Scale A9: Total annual earnings range from €33,810 to €46,857, with the average hourly wage at €20.62.
  • Scale A10: Total annual earnings range from €38,114 to €52,690, with the average hourly wage at €23.21.
