Football clubs fined for stadium violence

Sports judge Aristotelis Vryonides of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has levied a sleuth of fines concerning complaints involving clubs, footballers, and team officials.

Apollon Limassol was fined after incidents that occurred during the Cyprus Cup match against Ayia Napa on December 13 that saw fans bringing dangerous objects such as firecrackers and flares into the stadium and igniting them during the game. Some fans also made their way onto the pitch after the match concluded.

The judge’s verdict also detailed how some Apollon fans who entered the pitch were wearing balaclavas, while physically pushing and verbally abusing individuals within the stadium. Other fans caused damage to several stadium seats and threw objects onto the pitch, causing disturbances during the game.

Omonia was also fined for incidents that took place during the league match against Karmiotissa on December 16, as fans used lasers to against the opposing team’s goalkeeper.

Aek Larnaca was fined because some fans threw objects onto the pitch during the match against Ethnikos Achnas on December 16.

Ael Limassol was also fined after fans threw objects on the pitch at the start of the second half during their match against AEZ Zakakiou on December 17, causing a delay in resumption of the game. On top of that, fans carried a powerful firecracker into the stadium and ignited hazardous items after the match.

Pafos FC was fined during their match against Apoel on December 17, as their fans brought and ignited firecrackers and smoke bombs into the stands and caused extensive damage to stadium seats. Apoel was also fined for similar incidents during the same match.
