A second man was arrested over a two-kilo cannabis haul in Paphos, police said on Saturday, as the drug squad continued to investigate what appeared to be a drug-dealing ring.
Officers on Friday night arrested the 42-year-old man for questioning, over suspicions he is implicated in the cannabis trafficking deal.
Police said investigations began on December 19, when members of the drug squad found two people on a street in Paphos appearing to be handing over a parcel. One was in a car and the other on a motorbike.
Once the two noticed the police officers, they dumped the package and fled.
The car driver, who is believed the be the 42-year-old, crashed into a vehicle from the drug squad as he sped up in his attempt to flee, and managed to get away.
The motorbike driver also crashed into a police car, and tried to run away on foot but he was eventually arrested. Officers found 19g of cannabis on his motorbike.
Officers inspected the dropped parcel and found it contained 2kg of cannabis.
The 23-year-old was remanded in Paphos district court for eight days on Wednesday, while the 42-year-old was eventually arrested shortly before 7pm on Friday.
Investigations continue.
