The Limassol marina on Monday set the stage for the 2023 European Championship FAREAST 28R, marking a historic milestone as Cyprus welcomes its first-ever international sailing competition in the specific boat class.
The event, which is sponsored by Freedom Finance Europe, was graced by the presence of 15 teams from eight nations.
Sailors from Sweden, Austria, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Romania, Israel and Cyprus will compete in a riveting series of races across five days. Each day will see three intense 40-minute races, culminating in the championship’s climax on Saturday.
The final race will feature approximately 150 athletes, followed by an awards ceremony.
“At Limassol marina, we’re immensely proud to host such a prestigious event,” said Freedom Finance Europe business development director Olga Milko.
“It’s an honour to hold the European championship of this boat class for the first time in Cyprus. We anticipate this championship will mark the genesis of a remarkable sailing legacy for our island.”
Adding to the enthusiasm for the competition are two teams from Freedom Finance Europe, namely Freedom Sailing 1 and Freedom Sailing 2, known for their consistent success in Cyprus’ national sailing competitions.
This championship stands as the second major international sporting event orchestrated by Freedom Finance Europe in Cyprus this year.
In May, the company lent support to the fourth and final round of the World Chess Federation FIDE Women’s Grand Prix held in Nicosia.
Beyond sporting events, Freedom Finance Europe is actively engaged in pivotal national projects encompassing sports, culture and business.
