Israeli officer and 13-year-old Palestinian boy among the dead

The developments in one of the most critical war fronts of the last 50 years, in the Gaza Strip, are dramatic and are about to upset the balance on the geopolitical chessboard once again. Late on Saturday night, the Israeli armed forces confirmed that a lieutenant colonel of one of the main infantry brigades, called ‘Nahal’, was killed by Hamas fire.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Steinberg commanded the Nahal brigade, Israeli forces said.

The statement said the 42-year-old was killed in a shootout.

The 150 rocket attack

There has been an even greater escalation in recent hours in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian organization Hamas has launched a new wave of rocket attacks, firing 150 rockets at Tel Aviv, in response to Israel’s attack on the Palestinian Tower in Gaza.

Hamas even issued a statement on Telegram confirming the continuation of the fierce attacks with the latest offensive move by the Palestinians.

The Israeli army said it hit “two high-rise buildings” with air strikes, accusing the “terrorist organization Hamas”, which is in power in Gaza, of protecting its military infrastructure “in the heart of the population” of the Palestinian enclave.

The army said it warned residents before the strikes and “asked them to evacuate the area”.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen dramatically in the Gaza Strip, with Israeli casualties reaching 250 and Palestinian casualties reaching 232.

Four Palestinians, including a 13-year-old child, were killed earlier in the occupied West Bank, Al Jazeera reported. The identity of the minor child is currently unknown.

Ahmad Abdel Nasser Rabi was killed by Israeli soldiers in Qalqilia, according to a statement from the Palestinian Health Ministry, the ministry said. In fact, for some time now, photos of the victims have been making the rounds on social media. It should be noted that the UN has said that 2023 is the deadliest year for Palestinians since 2006 when it started keeping a record of casualties.

Israel cuts electricity in the Gaza Strip

Earlier, the Israeli government made another move in self-defense, specifically cutting off electricity in Gaza and Palestine.
