A fire that broke out at the top floor of a building in the old town of Nicosia was brought under control on Friday night, the fire service has said.
Nearby premises were protected and the fire did not spread, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said in his post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
He had earlier said the fire had fully developed. It was located in the third floor of a third-story building and had spread to the wooden roof which was covered with tiles.
Small apartments are housed in that floor, Kettis said.
After firefighters put the blaze under control, they entered the premises to search for any trapped persons.
Η πυρκαγιά είναι ελεγχόμενη ➡️ pic.twitter.com/2GK0K3y8sV
