Amalia Hadjiyianni, Scientific Director of the Famagusta and Larnaca hospitals, has said that a percentage amounting to 82% of the patients being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital that is operating as a Reference Hospital for Covid-19, has not been vaccinated.
Hadjiyianni said that currently there are 28 patients at the Reference Hospital, including four in the Increased Care Unit. The youngest patient is 33 years old and the oldest is 92. The patients’ median age is 63 years.
In reply to a relevant question, Hadjiyianni wished a good school year to the students that have today gone back to Gymnasiums and Lyceums and asked them to continue respecting the health protocols, to wear their masks and keep distances. She also urged them to discuss with their teachers any questions they might have.
She also asked teachers to carefully check SafePasses so that the new school year will proceed normally.
Finally, she urged people to proceed with vaccination, taking into consideration the fact that in August the Delta variant had prevailed 100% in Cyprus and in view of the new Mu variant that appeared in many countries of Europe.
