In a special event organised by her office in the gardens of the Presidential Palace, the First Lady, Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, emphasised the importance of providing equal opportunities for children.
Speaking on Saturday in celebration of Children’s Day, she expressed her commitment to ensuring a brighter future for all children in Cyprus.
The initiative stemmed from numerous pre- and post-election visits to various facilities across the country, where the First Lady interacted with children from vulnerable groups, caregivers, and educators. Through these encounters and conversations, the desire for such an event became evident.
“We are concurrently working to address the needs of children throughout Cyprus through our contacts and dialogues,” the First Lady said.
“We aim to assist the government’s efforts to improve structures and services because children are our future, and it is crucial to support them in having equal opportunities,” she added.
As a volunteer and in her role as First Lady, Karsera Christodoulides expressed her dedication to making a positive impact and achieving tangible results to bridge gaps and guarantee a bright future for all children in Cyprus.
Meanwhile, in her own address, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Marilena Evangelou highlighted the state’s obligation to protect children and provide a nurturing environment for their development.
She assured the attending children that they were at the centre of the government’s attention and emphasised their ability to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
“You may encounter difficulties in life, but they are merely hurdles on the path to your dreams and ambitions,” Evangelou stated.
“By setting goals, you can overcome these obstacles and fulfil your dreams because life is ahead of you,” she added.
She concluded her address by affirming the government’s commitment to expanding facilities and improving services for children, ensuring their well-being and growth.
