In an informal announcement said to its member-states, the European Center for Disease Prevention (ECDC) gave the green light for the third dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, to specific groups of the population. ECDC made it clear that there is no urgent need for a boost dose of fully vaccinated people in the general population but pointed out the need to reinforce immunity to specific groups, like immunocompromised, organ transplant recipients or people diagnosed with conditions considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromise.
This decision facilitates the governments of members states (including Cyprus) to make the relevant decisions or to implement decisions already made.
