Herpetologist bitten by viper in Greece remains in critical condition

A 39-year-old herpetologist who was bitten by a viper on Friday evening remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the ‘Papanikolaou’ General Hospital in Thessaloniki, it was reported on Saturday.

Called into a middle-high school to capture the snake spotted by a teacher, she went into anaphylactic shock immediately after the bite, while the poison reportedly attacked her central nervous system, forcing first-response paramedics to intubate her while in the ambulance.
