A fire that broke out within the Akamas National Forest Park on Friday afternoon was brought under control in about 30 minutes, competent authorities have announced.
Two fire engines responded to the blaze at 2.50pm on Friday in the area of Rigena Tower within the Akamas National Forest Park.
The intervention of the fire fighters was immediate, the forestry department said in a written statement, and the fire was brought under control at 3.25pm.
It destroyed an area of 1,000 square metres of low vegetation.
Fire fighting forces remain in the area while the exact causes of the fire will be investigated at a later stage.
