With a capacity of under 40 people due to COVID measures, cruise ship owners are trying to keep their business afloat.
According to ship owner Antonakis Gregoriou, the large number of Cypriot tourists in Famagusta have enabled cruise ships to operate at a significant level.
However, Gregoriou also mentioned that the situation deteriorates due to the permanently low capacity in ships, as well as the price negotiating which Cypriot tourists do prior to buying a ticket.
Gregoriou elaborated on how ship owners are forced to accept the customers’ negotiations in order to guarantee that the ship does not travel empty.
Gregoriou added that the demand for cruise ship travel is expected to remain on adequate levels until September.
