CYPRUS AND THE PAPAL EMBARGO AGAINST MUSLIMS IN THE 14th CENTURY

Synopsis

On this paper, the creator will study the consequences that the papal prohibition on direct commerce with the Muslims, in pressure between the years 1291-1344, had on Lusignan Cyprus. Firstly, he’ll study the means by which the embargo was applied, the products and companies it lined, its effectiveness and the units by which these affected tried to evade or circumvent it, with out being detected. As well as, he’ll point out the penalties imposed on these violating the embargo and the penances they needed to carry out. Lastly, he’ll analyse the altering priorities within the Holy Struggle between Western Christendom and Islam and the way over time these made the papal embargo more and more redundant, in order that it will definitely ceased to use
