The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, storms and very strong winds from Tuesday night through New Year’s Eve.
The warning is in effect from 22:00 on Tuesday, December 30, until 22:00 on December 31.
A combination of rain, isolated storms and very strong winds, locally reaching severe intensity of force 6-7, is expected to affect the island, particularly coastal and mountainous areas, according to the announcement. Hail is possible during storms.
Total rainfall is expected to locally exceed 55 mm in 24 hours.
