The sports ethics committee on Friday evening said it received a yellow alert for strong betting activity over the Nea Salamina – Olympiakos Nicosia match.
According to a brief announcement, the ULIS Monitoring Platform alerted the committee over the match that was being held on Friday.
It warned over strong betting activity for the match.
Match-fixing allegations hit the roof this month, after the former chairman of the sports ethics committee Andreas Papacharalambous told the podcast Legal Matter that former President Nicos Anastasiades personally called him while in office, and asked him not to look into allegations of match fixing regarding a friendly football match between Apollon and Karmiotissa.
Anastasiades has since rubbished the claims, calling them “old myths.”
