Workers walk out at three hotels in Limassol

Workers staged a spontaneous short work stoppage on Friday morning at three Atlantica group hotels in Limassol (Atlantica Miramare, Atlantica Oasis and Atlantica Bay).

According to a SEK union statement, employees are demanding full implementation of their collective agreement and protection of all their rights.

“Despite repeated contacts with the company, there was no progress, resulting in workers reacting spontaneously and demanding respect for their collective agreement,” the union said.

Union alleges systematic violations

SEK accused the employer of proceeding systematically with a series of violations. The union said the company has recently avoided deducting workers’ contributions to their organisation, thus obstructing their free trade union activity.

The union also alleged the employer engages in intimidation practices against strikers.

Relevant complaints have been filed with the Labour Relations Department, the statement concluded.
