Wild beauty at Kato Paphos: Stormy seas captivate New Year’s visitors

While Kato Paphos harbour is famous for its serene summer beauty, the New Year’s Day storms have revealed a more majestic and untamed side of the iconic landmark. The current combination of biting cold, intermittent sunshine, and gale-force winds has transformed the coastline into a dramatic winter landscape.

Despite the severe weather, many visitors gathered along the seafront to witness the powerful waves crashing against the harbour walls. Photographers and locals alike were seen capturing the rare “wild scenery,” as the fierce winds—forecasted to reach force 8—sent sea spray high into the air.

Philenews was on the scene to document these striking moments, proving that the harbour remains a primary attraction for the island, even when the Mediterranean shows its more turbulent side.
