Weekend rain and snow expected as temperatures drop below seasonal average

Cyprus will see isolated rain on Friday with snow possible on the highest Troodos peaks as temperatures prepare to drop below seasonal averages through the weekend, according to the weather forecast.

Friday will start with locally increased cloud before becoming mainly cloudy with isolated rain, particularly across the mountains, western and northern areas. Snow or sleet may fall on the highest Troodos peaks.

Winds will blow variable and light at 3 Beaufort initially before becoming mainly southwest to northwest at the same intensity. The sea will be smooth to slight. Temperatures will reach around 16 degrees Celsius inland, around 18 degrees on the coast and around 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

Saturday will remain mainly cloudy with local rain, whilst snow or sleet is expected on the highest Troodos peaks.

Sunday will stay mainly cloudy with local rain and snowfall expected in the higher mountains.

Monday will be partly cloudy, gradually becoming mainly cloudy, with isolated rain possible and snow in the higher mountains.

Temperatures will drop noticeably through Sunday before showing little change on Monday, settling below average seasonal values.
