Police arrested a 36-year-old man at the Ledra Street crossing yesterday evening after discovering an outstanding Red Notice against him.
Around 7 pm yesterday, the 36-year-old travelled from the occupied areas, intending to cross into the government-controlled areas.
During the check of his travel documents, authorities discovered the Red Notice, confirming a third country sought him in connection with a case under investigation involving conspiracy, attempted murder, illegal possession, transfer, and use of a firearm, as well as the illegal possession and use of explosive materials. The offences allegedly occurred on 23/4/2025.
The Police arrested the 36-year-old under a provisional arrest warrant, placing him in custody. He is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today to begin the extradition process.
