Relevant authorities in Troodos were mobilised yesterday evening following a report that two young men, aged 21 and 23, had lost their orientation on the ‘Atalanti’ nature trail.
Fire Service Spokesman Andreas Kettis stated that the two young men were not injured, but the arrival of darkness made it impossible for them to leave the area safely.
The police transmitted their location data to the Emergency Response Unit (EMAK), which took charge of the operation.
Ultimately, the two young men were located unharmed by members of the Platres Police Station and were safely escorted off the trail. Two fire engines participated in the rescue operation.
