Two men are due to appear before Nicosia District Court on Wednesday after a court-warranted search of their vehicle uncovered a large haul of untaxed tobacco products, police said.
The search was carried out as part of an investigation into offences committed on Tuesday in Nicosia, including negligent and reckless acts, dangerous driving, illegal possession and transport of untaxed goods, and malicious damage.
Officers seized 127,000 cigarettes, 40,000 heated tobacco units, 96.5 kilograms of cigarette tobacco, 102 kilograms of shisha tobacco, and 1,000 small cigars.
The two suspects, aged 37 and 39, are expected to appear in court today for a remand order. Nicosia CID is continuing its investigations.
