Two minors sustained serious injuries requiring hospital treatment following a road collision in Paphos on Sunday evening, with police confirming one driver tested above the legal alcohol limit.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:00pm on 7 September at the junction of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue and Spyros Sotirakis Street, involving a family vehicle carrying four occupants and a car driven by a 19-year-old with a teenage passenger.
A 17-year-old boy suffered neck injuries and was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, whilst a nine-year-old girl sustained pelvic trauma requiring treatment at Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia. Both children remain hospitalised in stable condition outside immediate danger.
The 40-year-old family car driver tested 23 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 22 micrograms.
The 40-year-old mother and both 19-year-old occupants from the second vehicle received emergency treatment at Paphos General Hospital before discharge. All five individuals required ambulance transport from the scene.
Police are investigating the case.
