Hulusi Akar, chair of the Turkish parliament’s Defence Committee and former Defence Minister, has posted a threatening message on X targeting Greek Cypriots.
“In the homeland of the Cypriot Turk, Those dreaming of Easter… It will be your last Easter!” Akar wrote.
The post is the latest in a series of statements on the Cyprus problem. On April 2, Akar argued that the existence of two sovereign and equal states on the island is, in his view, an inevitable development.
The remarks have reignited discussion over the Cyprus problem at a time when the issue remains particularly sensitive at a diplomatic and geopolitical level.
