Public turnout in Troodos has been high since early Saturday, with many visitors taking advantage of the winter scenery and snowfalls in the highest areas, despite the demanding weather conditions.
The largest snow accumulation is mainly found in the higher points and on the Troodos peak, while snow has also covered the main square, presenting a distinct picture of the landscape.
The setting is completed by fog, which intermittently restricts visibility, as well as light rain.
In statements, the Police Communications Branch Spokesman reported that despite the weather phenomena, the presence of visitors is noticeable, and noted that so far, no problems have been recorded.
According to the Police representative, the road network remains open, with no ice formation.
“The situation on the roads is manageable and there are no particular issues. However, due to the fog and the wet road surface, increased caution from drivers is required,” he said.
He explained that the low visibility and slippery conditions necessitate careful driving, with low speeds and maintaining safe distances.
The Police affirmed that they will remain on continuous alert, monitoring the situation, which for now “remains fully under control.” Meanwhile, impressive images of the snow-covered and foggy scenery in Troodos are circulating online, shared by kitasweather and other social media users.
