Cloudy skies, rain and isolated thunderstorms will dominate Thursday’s weather, with sleet or snow possible on the higher peaks of Troodos, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The weather will remain mainly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected, particularly from midday onwards. Hail may fall during thunderstorms, whilst the highest Troodos peaks could see sleet or snow.
Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast in the morning, shifting gradually to northeast by afternoon. They will be weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening temporarily to moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the north and east.
The sea will be slight.
Temperatures will reach around 17C inland, around 19C on the coast and around 8C in the higher mountains.
The weather will improve noticeably on Friday and Saturday, though locally increased cloud cover will occur at intervals.
Sunday will bring partly to mainly cloudy skies at intervals, with possible isolated rain in the west during the afternoon. Isolated rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms are expected in the evening, mainly along the western, southern and northern coasts.
Temperatures will rise slightly on Friday and remain at similar levels through Sunday, fluctuating near the average for the season.
