The Israeli army accuses Hezbollah of “dragging Lebanon into war”

Hezbollah is seeking military escalation on the border with Israel, with the risk of dragging Lebanon into war, the Israeli army claims, after new exchanges of fire with members of the Lebanese Shiite movement.

“Hezbollah is attacking and dragging Lebanon into a war from which it will gain nothing, but from which it risks losing a lot,” Israeli army spokesman Jonathan Kornicus warned in a post on the X platform.

Tensions on the border between Israel and Lebanon further escalated yesterday, Saturday, after clashes erupted during which six Hezbollah members were killed.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, for its part, claimed the death of one of its members.

On the Israeli side, the army said that three soldiers were wounded, one of them seriously. In addition, two Thai farm workers were also injured.

“Is the Lebanese state really ready to risk what is left of Lebanese prosperity and sovereignty for the benefit of Gaza terrorists, the Islamic State of Gaza?” asked Conricus.

“It is a question that the Lebanese authorities must ask and must answer,” he added.
