The American Academy Larnaca: A great place to grow

The American Academy Larnaca is a distinguished educational institution where we encourage our students to explore and realise their potential while becoming part of a unique and supportive community.

With a history spanning over 115 years, we have built a legacy of educational excellence, inspiring generations of students to achieve their best. As one of the oldest schools in Cyprus, we remain committed to academic achievement, fostering community spirit and offering a broad spectrum of extracurricular activities. Our graduates are not only high-achieving and ambitious but also compassionate and well-rounded individuals.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
We are committed to guiding our students through a strong educational foundation and giving them the flexibility to pursue either A-Levels or the Greek stream, each culminating in an Apolytirion recognised by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Our structured, supportive environment fosters intellectual curiosity and holistic growth, equipping students with the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to pursue their ambitions globally.

PHSE PROGRAMME
The American Academy Larnaca has introduced the PHSE (Personal, Health, Social, and Economic education) programme across its curriculum. The programme is designed to support students’ personal development, wellbeing and understanding of the world around them. It covers key areas like health and well-being, relationships, social responsibilities and financial literacy.

ACADEMIC COUNSELLING
Our philosophy is to help students become who they want to be. We have a dedicated group of Academic Counsellors whose main role in the school is to guide students in making their subject choices and to assist them to progress on to University or the workplace.
They support students through their academic journeys, motivating, strengthening and encouraging them every step of the way. Every year, our students secure places at some of the most prestigious Universities worldwide and on some of the most challenging courses.

GREEK SCHOOL
We have expanded our curriculum to meet our students’ evolving needs, providing them with more choices for the next stage of their education. As a result, students enrolling at our school since September 2022 have the option to join the Greek School. This programme follows a Greek curriculum, allowing students to specialise in either Economics or Science. Through these courses, our students are well prepared for the Pancyprian Exams, which qualify them to apply for admission to public universities in Cyprus and Greece.

PASTORAL – STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
At the American Academy Larnaca, every effort is made to nurture each student’s spiritual, moral, emotional and physical wellbeing.

“We have a robust pastoral system, and at the heart of all we do is the students’ personal development.”

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The American Academy Larnaca provides students with an evolving selection of clubs and activities taking place both during and after school. These extracurricular activities are designed to develop their talent and skills with other students who share similar interests.
At the Junior School, all children are involved in the Performance Arts curriculum. This year, they will be performing “A Journey through Theatre” on 3 April 2026.
