The sound of sirens echoing through the Engomi district on Friday afternoon caused temporary panic among residents and workers near the Phileleftheros building.
Initial fears that the sirens were linked to nearby embassies or a real-world emergency were quickly debunked. Phileleftheros contacted the Police, who confirmed that no official alarm had been triggered and no emergency situation was underway in the area.
The mystery was solved shortly after through student testimonies. It emerged that the disturbance was caused by a group of students playing siren sounds through high-powered loudspeakers as a prank.
