Sirens at RAF Akrotiri fall silent signalling end of alarm

Sirens at RAF Akrotiri have stopped sounding, according to an update from the Bases, falling silent minutes after they were first activated.

Sources at the Bases told Philenews that a suspected object had been spotted approximately three kilometres from the military installation prior to the alert.

The government spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, in a post o X, said that no threat has been identified following the activation of security measures at the British Bases earlier today, government spokesman said.

The security protocols and sirens were triggered as a precautionary measure, Letymbiotis said, adding that checks had not produced any incident.

The alert has now been stood down, he said, while the relevant authorities continue to monitor the situation closely in line with established procedures.
