Cyprus can expect cloud, showers and falling temperatures over the Clean Monday long weekend, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Saturday will start mostly sunny before cloud moves in, meteorological officer Iasonas Christodoulou told the Cyprus News Agency. Isolated showers are possible, mainly over the mountains and northern areas, and temperatures will rise to around 21–22°C inland and on the coast, with roughly 14°C at higher elevations.
Conditions will deteriorate on Sunday, Christodoulou said, with spells of localised rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms expected first in the western half of the island — particularly Paphos district, the Polis Chrysochous area and parts of western Limassol — before spreading to other regions. Snow or sleet is possible on the highest Troodos peaks. Temperatures will drop to around 18°C.
Clean Monday will bring scattered morning showers, not particularly intense or widespread, Christodoulou said. Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread by midday and early afternoon, with temperatures dipping further to around 17°C inland. Snow or sleet remains possible on the highest peaks.
Asked whether hail was likely, Christodoulou said it was not expected on Clean Monday, though if a thunderstorm develops in a specific area, it cannot be ruled out.
